[Enter Breaking Bad Reference Here] of the Day: Irina Kristy, a 74-year-old Suffolk University adjunct math professor, will be arraigned later this month on charges of conspiring to cook and distribute methamphetamine.
Her son, 29-year-old Grigory Genkin, pled not guilty to the same charges last month.
The duplex of the Somerville, MA resident, who considers Nobel Peace Prize laureate Andrei Sakharov a friend, had been under police surveillance since August of last year. Authorities finally raided the home on November 7th, finding several hazardous materials associated with the production of meth.
“Due to the amount of materials and contraband located and seized…It is believed that… Kristy was complicit in the methamphetamine operation,” said Somerville Det. Michael Brown in his report.
Kristy is due to appear in court December 21st; Genkin is also due back later this month.
In addition to her position at Suffolk University, Kristy, who emigrated to the US from the Soviet Union in 1985, is also a lecturer at Boston University.
According to her reviews on RateMyProfessors.com, she was considered something of a scatterbrain, with one former student warning fellow BU undergrads to “NEVER take her unless you absolutely have to,” adding, “she’s a nice lady but gets flustered easily.”
[thr / globe / wicked.]
suffolk pride \m/
when i was still a comp sci major i saw this lady all the time. she was always really angry and she wore way too much make-up. sooooo hilarious!
This was the person who stood in front of my calculus class first semester freshman year. I wont say she was the professor though because she was either rambling, repeating the same word 50 trillion times, or muttering in her inaudible voice. And look at that face, people. Clearly a meth-head. SMH
this was my math professor last semester. she was literally insane. it all makes sense now.
god bless suffolk.](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lvrkyn8uqK1qzpwi0o1_400.jpg)
